What a week!

Hello dear ones,

Phew, In Your Room is out for almost a week now and what a busy one it was!
The media attention we are getting is overwhelming and I'm happy to share this new album with all of you who have been following me over the years, as well as the ones who didn't have a clue who I was a little while ago ;-)
I am truly amazed by the amount of people who seem to have discovered me or re-discovered me these last few weeks.

Last Thursday we played DWDD TV show. It's a very high profile TV show in the Netherlands with over one million viewers every day (in a country of 15 million inhabitants, that's quite a lot!). During the camera rehearsal I forgot my cue and Joris' guitar strap fell apart. Blimey! That wasn't exactly a confidence builder and it got me quite nervous. But... as soon as the host Mathijs van Nieuwkerk joined me on that small stage during the broadcast, I knew that we were going to be fine and that the only important thing was to share my music with the audience and viewers.
You can watch our performance here. That night I received lotssss of messages from friends, family, former class mates, distant relatives, people who are living next door to an uncle of someone who I met on a vacation 15 years ago and so on... hihi.

This was also the first time we performed with keyboard player & vocalist Annelies Kuijsters. She brings a lovely energy to the band and I'm happy to announce that she will be joining us during the upcoming Dutch shows. Check out her former band Krezip!

H.R.H. Princess Laurentien of the Netherlands was a guest on the show as well. She wrote a lovely children's book 'Mr. Finney and the World Upside Down'. I met her in the green room and told her my son's name is Finn and that he always looks up kinda surprised whenever the title is mentioned on TV. She told me she would send Finn a nice little present and proved to be a very sweet lady.

We were also guests on 'Giel' at 3FM Radio last Tuesday. Host Giel Beelen was voted best Dutch Radio Host four times already and he's a very creative guy who's always throwing wisecracks and one-lines around. We had to get up at 3AM to make it to his morning show, but we had a really great time. Check out Hey Okay! here and also I Want. Giel asked us to play a cover of a song that's currently in the charts and we had a go at Papillon by the fantastic Editors.

Now we are looking forward to go out a play! Next week we fly to Lebanon to play at Beirut Rock Festival 2009. We fly home during the night and kick off our Dutch gigs in Groningen the very next day on the 12th.

Another funny thing. We live in this tiny village in the Dutch country side. Every year there is a one-off show with our local brass band and percussion ensemble, joined by all inhabitants who can sing or play an instrument. Of course Rob and I are participating in the event as well. Rob is doing a solo piece with the percussion ensemble and playing some mallets with the brass band and I'll be singing two Dutch songs with the brass band and a pop band consisting of local musicians. Yesterday we had a dress rehearsal and I think it's going to be marvellous. It's really great to work on a show with so many talented peeps from our village!

Speak soon... love,

Anneke X
